Pretty Floral Journal

Today I'm sharing a journal I recently made using the lovely papers, stickers and dies I received from Inloveartshop.com. The papers are called 'Pretty Lady', there are 24 papers in the pack, 12 designs with two of each design.

For my journal I lightly tea stained the papers just to soften the colours a little and because that way they would match my blank papers better. I used a lot of stitching in this journal and some tulle to give it a lovely soft look

I used the dies in various ways throughout the journal for pockets, tuckspots and tags and decorated some of the pages with the vintage style stickers, lace, fabric and little flowers.

You can see the journal in full in this video HERE

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by :)

Entering Challenges

Hello there and welcome to my blog.

Today I'm sharing some projects that I made over the last couple of weeks. There are a few challenges going on youtube right now and although I can't enter them all I do try to take part in a couple when I can.

The first is a Pin Cushion that I made for 'msgardengrove1' on youtube, Annie wanted either a pin cushion or an altered spoon together with a stick pin making in a 'tea party' theme. As much as I like to see all the cute and colourful tea party things I don't actually have a lot of 'tea party' items so I just went with what I had.

I made a three tier cake/cupcake style pin cushion that sits in a vintage sugar bowl. I've made these before and really enjoy the process and the overall look of them. We were to make a stick pin as well and so I did, in fact I made many many little stick pins that make up all the little decorative flowers on the pin cushion. I also made a couple of 3" ones and then a lovely large 6" pin! I really do love the large one :)

You can find my video on these projects HERE

The next challenge I took part in was for 'Debbie Vignola' on youtube, Debbie wanted a smallish Christmas ornament making for her Christmas Tree.

I decided to try my hand at beading for this challenge and made her a removeable beaded bauble cover from beads I had found op-shopping (thrifting) over the years.

I love how this project turned out and am very happy with my first attempt.

You can see this project fully HERE

It's always nice to enter a challenge or two especially if it's something a little different, these challenges are still open until the end of November so if you are interested I will put the links to the challenge videos for you.

Couture Creations Design Team Audition 2019

Hello there, as the title of this blog post states, this is my audition for the Couture Creations Design Team for 2019/2020.  Couture Creations are currently looking for crafters from around the world to join their Team and I thought I might give it a try, fingers crossed!! 😀

For my projects I have made a soft covered journal together with a box using the lovely 'Vintage Rose Garden' paper collection by Couture Creations. This is an older paper collection but nonetheless very beautiful.

The box is made simply by using the measurements included with your large score board, there is a triangular template held on the reverse side of the board that gives many measurements for both cards and boxes in different sizes and styles. I made a 6" x 6" journal so made a box to fit this with my 12" x 12" papers.

Once the box was complete I decorated the top very simply by cutting out a couple of doilies, Using a quote form the paper line and cutting out a couple of the beautiful floral images and placing them diagonally across from each other and adding a metal butterfly.  The corners of the box have been finished off with some filigree metal pieces to add to the vintage look.

The Journal is soft covered, it is made from two layers of the paper and then I added a piece of fabric between them for extra strength.  To decorate I cut various images from the papers and layered them up to get the lovely vintage look I was after.  Along the spine I threaded a piece of tulle (knotted at each end) which is purely decorative and adds a soft look to the cover, I also included a vintage lace bow and some cheesecloth along with a wax seal to finish it off. I left the top of the layered embellishment open so that I could use it to put a note in there. There are three signatures in this journal, each consisting of 16 pages of various tea stained papers.

Throughout the journal I have made embellishments from images from the papers and lightly inked around the edges, adding laces and stitching to add interest.

The lovely papers go together so well and are perfect for journal making. I made faux envelopes, pockets and tags with the leftovers.

On the inside front cover I added a sweet planter box which includes two hidden journal cards. There is a full tutorial for this included at the end of my youtube video - HERE.

I do hope you like my projects using 'Vintage Rose Garden' paper collection by Couture Creations. You may also remember I recently made another journal using the 'Gentleman's Emporium' collection  by Couture Creations which I loved, you can find that journal on my youtube channel - HERE.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Enjoy your day

Catching Up!!

I'm back again with a catch up post, I don't think I need to say how quickly this year is flying by as I think everyone is thinking the same thing!

Here's a little catch up on some of the projects I have made over the past two months, not necessarily in the correct order 😀 I will link up the videos or blog posts for your convenience.

I have made some lovely little Silk Slipper Needle Keeps that were very simple yet look ever so lovely decorated up with beautiful goods from Crafty Me Shop - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3PamS1S7cU

An Altered File Folder Bag which is great for those larger items you may want to gift out or just for the fun of making them, I used some of my dies from Inloveart Shop for this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMsLxQyUnz4

Another Gift Bag in a Vintage Style using lovely laces and trims from Crafty Me Shop - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpZd4L_NTv8

I made a wonderfully large journal in a garden/nature theme - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SupBsl60OEc

But then came an even larger one which I decided to divide into two Journals which were still large anyway, hahaha - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bQ-93joV3s

Back to a little sewing I made a few lovely Lavender Sachets using up some laces from Crafty Me Shop - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnW2NoKfBYw

Along with a sweet Book Page/Tag for a Challenge on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gr5bI4E8Bp0

So that's pretty much my youtube makes but I have a couple of projects that I made for the Helmar Blog, whenever I use any glues in my projects they are Helmar Glues. The first is a simple Shabby Music Paper Pouch/Envelope - https://helmarusa.typepad.com/blog/2019/08/shabby-style-envelope-and-flower.html

and the second is making a little Pedestal to keep my little bits up off my desk - https://helmarusa.typepad.com/blog/2019/09/little-vintage-style-pedestals.html

Of course you will find more projects, tutorials and videos on my YouTube Channel - HERE and the occasional sneak peek on my instagram, but I don't know how to link to that one ;)

Two Months Just Whizzed By!

And just like that two months have gone by since I've been here! Oh my goodness ..

Let's have a little catch up on what I've been making, firstly there were the journal page and altered file folder packaging I made for a challenge, it's wonderfully shabby vintage and ever so soft looking.

This is the journal page made from an A4 piece of paper folded in half with many tucks and pockets added and filled up. You can see more of it in this video - here

This is the altered file folder I made to go with it, I just love how this one turned out, so very shabby looking :) You can find this one, if you'd like to see more - here

The next project I made was a Boudoir Pincushion Doll inspired by the beautiful vintage dolls you can see on Pinterest. I used some gorgeous laces and trims from Crafty Me Shop on facebook to compliment the lovely little half doll. You can see a detailed video of this project - here

I think she's just lovely :)

Then it was time to play around with a candy theme for my Helmar Design Project for May,
I chose to make some little 'Candy Tubes' for crafters. Perfect little gifts to give to your friends. If you would like to see how I made them you can read about it - here

Another Helmar Design Project was the ongoing covers for my journal, this time I started decorating them and you can see how that was done - here

Ok so now we go into journal territory, this is a 3 in 1 Concertina TN Style Journal I made using a file folder and the 'Gentleman's Emporium' paper collection from Couture Creations, I really enjoyed making this and if you're interested you can see a flip through - here

This was followed by more journals in a lovely Boho style using laces, trims and fabrics from Crafty Me Shop once again and you can also see them in detail - here

Of course I wanted to make some file folder pockets to house them, I think they turned out ever so pretty and you can have a look closer in this video - here

Next up there was a new Choker for my vintage dressform in my craft room, this was a very simple make but turned out so very lovely, I have a process video if you care to see how it was made - here

Wanting to use up some of my scraps from the Crafty Me Shop projects, I decided to make a little Paper Bag Journal Flip. There is a three part process video on my channel but if you want to just see the end result it starts about half way through the last video (Part 3).
Part 1 - here
Part 2 - here
Part 3 - here

Lastly I put together some lovely shabby vintage style tags for a journal, I've showcased metal cutting dies from 'Inloveartshop' in this project, you can see this video - here

Well that certainly turned into a long post and is a gentle reminder to myself to pop on my blog more often.

In all my projects where glue is needed I use Helmar glues :) :)

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day

As you may know I've recently joined the Helmar Creative Team again and have been writing small tutorials on their Blog - HERE

A couple of the projects that I've made are some lovely little magnets and bookmarks using the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, you can read all about them - HERE

and I also tried my hand at my first ever Acrylic Pour with the aid of Helmar H4000 Silicone Oil. It was a learning experience which I really enjoyed and will be continuing on with this project in the coming weeks. You can read my instructions - HERE

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and I hope you have a wonderful day :)

Playing with 'InLoveArtShop' dies

Well it's almost the end of May and I feel like I've barely completed anything at all this month but looking back I realise that most of the month I've been playing around with my scraps which is normally an ongoing type of thing.

Two of the projects I did manage to complete this month are a journal and some memory dex type cards. I was recently sent some dies from an online store called 'inloveartshop' to play around with and review so these are what I decided to make.

This is the Shabby style Journal I made, I used the Atelier paperpack from Stamperia, I just love the shabbyness of these papers and of course the old soft blues.

You can find a full video of this journal on my youtube channel - HERE where I explain how I have used the various dies, but I'll also share some still shots for your viewing :)

I really love the way this journal turned out :)

Memory Dex style cards were also on my agenda, I've never made this type of card before and honestly they are very very simple. This particular die was a door style and you can also find the video on them - HERE

This die has little doors that open up so I've used a smaller magnet to keep them shut on the bottom one and a paperclip on the middle one.

Please be aware that these cards are a smaller size and measure 3.5" across the bottom :)
